An Old Fence...Fading

The old fence is slowly but surely turning into a new one. Great excuse to play with my nail gun!

An Old Fence

I took some painkillers a while ago. I don't really like taking them because they make my mind a bit fuzzy at times. A few minutes ago I found myself out in the back yard staring at the old fence I'm in the process of replacing and suddenly it looked pretty neat. So I took some pictures of it.

Another really stupid thing for someone to say....

“Because he’s African-American. Because he’s a black man, who has come from a place of oppression and repression through the years in our own country... President Obama [would be] a symbol of empowerment [who has] the ability to help us bridge the divide of religious extremism, to maybe even give power to moderate Islam... an important lesson for America to show Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, other places in the world where disenfranchised people don’t get anything.” -- Jean-Francois Kerry on Barack Obama's qualifications for the office of President of the United States.

WHAT? That's what it takes to be POTUS? How DO these idiots get into office in the first place?

M & P

If there's a better dinner out there than this, I want to hear about it.

The cone

Today was the first summer day of spring. It's still above 80 at 6 p.m. I think it hit 86 this afternoon. Was driving around with the top down for a while today -- much fun. Going to see the family and the new guy next weekend, hope it's as nice then.

Planted grass today. In the same place I planted it last year. There are four huge trees in the front yard with what used to be a garden at their feet. I don't do gardens so last spring I pulled everything that was left and planted grass. It grew beautifully for three weeks. Then for reasons I don't understand (neither of my thumbs are green), it all died. In one day. We'll see how it goes this year. Actually, one of my thumbs is kind of green because after I'd planted the grass and raked it under, I covered the whole area with grass clippings from the back yard. Since Home Depot doesn't sell a spreader for fresh cut grass clippings I had to use my hand and it turned the whole thing green.

Ah yes, the cone. Mom and Tom are visiting tomorrow so I'm cleaning the house. Just got done vacuuming and I wanted everyone (or at least the two or three people who might see this post) to see what the vacuum cleaner does to all the dirt (mostly dog hair.) It spins it up into a neat little cone. Isn't that cool?
OK, I've got three pounds of Tri Tip Sirloin that's just about ready to go on the grill. Yum!

The stupidest thing I've heard in a while....

“I don’t think we force [taxation]. In fact, quite to the contrary. Our system of government is a voluntary tax system.” —Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid

Medical advances

I got a CAT scan yesterday in the hopes the doctors could figure out what's been giving me such pain in my gut lately. I really thought it would be a little more sophisticated than this......

Duck!

If a sniper fires a gun in the woods and nobody’s around, does Hillary Clinton still hear it?
